The Michigan Network for Children's Environmental Health is a coalition of health professionals, health-affected groups, environmental organizations, and others dedicated to a safe and less toxic world for Michigan's children. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, we work to change current policies and practices that result in exposure of children to environmental toxicants.

DEQ recommends ban on toxic flame retardant, deca-BDE!

The Michigan DEQ announced that a long overdue draft report will call for a ban on the toxic flame retardant deca-BDE where safer alternatives exist. In addition, the Washington State legislature passed a bill to make deca-BDE illegal for use in mattresses and some other household products, and a bill just passed out of committee in California. Despite extensive industry opposition, bans on deca-BDE are gaining momentum across the country. Learn more.
